There was no mistaking the significance of Sarah and David getting married at the Smithfield in Blacksburg, VA. David’s grandaddy sat in the front row, full of pride for his grandson getting married on their ancestral land in the home in which his family once lived. Taking family pictures of their extended family in front of the home that started it all was beautiful and meant so much to Sarah and David. It was clear that family, and enjoying their wedding day with the people that mattered most to them, was so important.
But that wasn’t my favorite part of the wedding. I loved the history of the ceremony, but the reception was what really got me. At their engagement session, Sarah and David explained that they wanted their reception to feel like each and every guest was coming over to their home to have dinner with them. So, to achieve this, Sarah and David had a place set for them at each table so that they could share a part of the meal with every guest! I absolutely loved this idea because it is sometimes truly difficult to talk to each guest! It was so cool to see Sarah and David walking and sitting at each table to visit with their friends and family!
I can’t explain how much of an honor it was to be a part of this wedding! Sarah and David are the sweetest people. They are the kind of couple that just had a blast on their wedding day! Sarah even walked down the aisle to their signature song, Africa, and sang it the whole way while David cracked up as he watched his bride walk down! The ceremony was so quick because all they wanted was to be officially married and get to the party! It was such a beautiful day!
Sarah and David,
Thank you so much for trusting me and I hope you love them as much as I do!! You two are the cutest, and I can’t wait to hopefully see you both again soon!
These are some one of my favorite pictures of the night, because I had the honor of shooting both Sarah & David’s and Sarah & Dustin’s weddings within two weeks!! It was such a fun reunion to see both of these couples at each others weddings!! But the best part? When I found they were all laughing at me just like I always asked them to do, and Dustin told me I taught them well!! I couldn’t stop laughing but also was so happy to be a part of these two beautiful couples’ wedding days!! Love you four!!
